Catalonia’s government has officially partnered with Port Tarragona to position it as a strategic floating offshore wind hub for the Western Mediterranean. On June 26, 2025, officials from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Tarragona Port Authority announced that 30 hectares of port land at the Balears quay and the future Ponent quay will be dedicated to constructing, assembling, and staging marine wind turbines.
