After years of waiting and repeated calls from the sector for a clear regulatory framework for offshore wind, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition has launched a public consultation to define Spain’s first competitive offshore wind tender. This step was the missing piece needed to set the foundations such as areas, capacity, and award criteria for large-scale floating offshore wind projects.

This represents a firm first step towards unlocking a technology with huge potential for the energy transition, attracting investment, creating industrial value and jobs, and accelerating the decarbonisation of Europe’s electricity.
