Auction of New York Offshore Wind

On the 15th of December the US Bureau of Ocean and Energy Management (BOEM) has auctioned 320 km2  of the offshore land of New York.

Some of the companies participating to the event are DONG Energy, Innogy, Iberdrola’s Avangrid Renewables, EDF Renewable Development, Statoil Wind US, Wpd Offshore Alpha, Deepwater Wind Hudson Canyon, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Fishermen’s Energy, Sea Breeze Energy, CI-II NY Inc, Energy Management, Inc, Convalt Energy, and Clean Power Northeast Development.

The area of interest starts from 21,3 km from the coast of Jones Beach, NY, and extends for 44,5 km toward south east in its longest portion. After 10 hours of bidding and 27 rounds completed, the lease price has reached USD 25.5 million and three currently undisclosed parties have continued competing to build an offshore wind farm off New York.
