Ocean Winds and Banque des Territoires have successfully installed the first floating wind turbine of the Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) project, 16 km off the coast of Leucate and Barcarès, in the Occitanie region.
The 10 MW turbine, assembled in Port-La Nouvelle, is the most powerful floating wind unit ever installed in France—possibly even worldwide. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the lead-up to the full commissioning of the EFGL pilot farm, scheduled for the end of August, which will supply clean electricity to about 50,000 people.
The project serves as a foundation for the larger EFLO project (250 MW).
